The Archangel Series was an inspiration. Call it my affection for archetypes. Next was the research, which was extensive
both conventional and on the internet. The collection of information I acquired was a combination of Judaic, Islamic and
Christian lore.
Next was the decision to render these as detailed pencil drawings, which are then scanned into the computer, and augmented
with Photoshop, including the decayed parchment background in each image.
The most fun is the names from their angelic seals (that you can see to your right) which I translated (roughly) through the
"Celestial" style of ancient "Angelic Script", then applied to their armor and garb on most.
This series is in progress, but I have Phase I, the first seven, completed as of 2006. I've begun Phase II, which is the
final eight (making the total 15), and hope to have the entire series completed sometime in 2009.
You can download information sheets from below the image on each page of each angel. You'll also find posters, prints, t-shirts
